AAFNM Scholarship Applications Available

The American Advertising Federation-New Mexico (AAF-NM) Scholarship Fund has been established to provide scholarships to deserving men and women who intend to enter the advertising profession in New Mexico. The scholarship is intended to provide monetary support to those who would like to pursue an unpaid internship during their junior or senior year of college.  One or two recipients will be selected annually for an award of $1,500 each.

AAF-NM Executive Director

The AAF-NM Executive Director leads and manages the organization under the direction of the board of directors. Primary responsibilities include the following:

  • Managing the daily operations of the organization
  • Supervising Public Service Media Program and staff
  • Administering a $150,000 annual budget
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Planning and operating all other organizational programs
  • Supporting board committees and coordinating monthly luncheons and social events
  • Developing new member services, programs, and fundraising initiatives

Education & Experience

  • Experience in organizational budgeting, program planning, and staff management and oversight
  • Experience managing non-profit organizations preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

Skills & Abilities

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with office technology and accounting software
  • Knowledge of Quickbooks


The responsibilities of the Executive Director for AAF-NM include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. 1.             Plan, direct and coordinate the following meetings/events of AAF-NM
  • Luncheon meetings
  • Board Meetings, including Executive Committee meetings and Retreat
  • ADDY entry days
  • ADDY Judging
  • ADDY Awards Event
  • Other activities as determined by the Board
  1. 2.             Plan, direct and coordinate all activities and programs of AAF-NM, to include
  • setting goals and priorities
  • defining long and short term objectives
  • developing strategy
  • allocating resources to implement the strategies developed
  • communication with membership
  • overseeing staff and volunteers to ensure that implementation is timely, professional and within budget
  1. 3.             Assist and advise the Board of Directors of AAF-NM, including
  • preparing agendas and materials for Board and committee meetings
  • maintaining records of Board and committees including agendas and minutes
  • providing complete and accurate information to the Board regarding the status of the organization’s programs and finances
  • implementation of all policies as set forth by the Board
  • presenting recommendations to the Board on matters of policy, budget and long-term planning
  1. 4.             Direct and implement all activities of the Public Service Media Program, including
  • supervision of PSM Manager
  • oversight of all aspects of the program
  • preparation and enforcement of client and sponsor contracts
  • monitoring and preparing monthly/quarterly financial and proof of performance reports
  1. 5.             Act as a liaison between the AAF-NM and other community organizations, affiliated groups and nationals programs to
  • enhance public knowledge of and interest in AAF-NM’s operations, mission and vision
  • investigate and develop opportunities for joint projects and collaboration
  • develop new contacts with potential members, volunteers and other supporters
  1. 6.             Establish and maintain record keeping procedures to ensure
  • fiscal control and accountability
  • review budgets, including income and expenses
  • draft and adhere to annual fiscal budget
  • accurate maintenance of books and official records
  • adherence to all applicable laws and regulations
  • compliance with the conditions of all contracts and agreements

The Executive Director works approx. 20-25 hours per week regularly excluding the months of January, February and March when the job requires between 30 to 40 hours per week.
